Children are required in the state of Kentucky to be immunized against certain diseases if they attend:
Summary of Immunization Requirements for School, Daycare, and Head Start
When children are gathered together and in close contact with each other, like a school setting, there is an increased risk for spreading diseases such as measles, mumps or pertussis. Making sure children are up-to-date on their immunizations greatly reduces that risk.
Your child’s healthcare provider will discuss with you which vaccines are recommended for your child to have and which ones are required for school. Your child will also receive an immunization certificate to provide to the school upon registration.
Refer to the Kentucky Immunization Regulation for details on exceptions and exemptions.
